Optimizing Your Bio
Optimizing your Instagram Bio is important for three important reasons:
1. Branding - You want your brand to be easily recognizable
2. Lead Generation - Make it easy for prospects to sign up for your offers
3. Search - Instagram functions heavily on search, make yourself searchable
Here is what your Instagram bio will look like when you are finished:
Let’s start by editing your profile. Your profile is the bit of information about you under your username and photo.
Here are the main elements of your Instagram profile:
- Name - This is what will show in Bold black lettering right under your profile picture and also works as a search term. Most use this as a place to enter their business name.
- Username - This is your “handle” and what you will be known as on the platform (the name that you see at the very top of the profiles above). Choose wisely. Make it easy to remember and try to avoid too many extra characters or numbers, such as underscores or birthdays. This (along with your profile photo) should be the same across all of your social media channels.
- Website - This is the only place you will be able to link to something on Instagram. For this reason, it is imperative that this links to your main offer. This is your opportunity to generate new leads for your business based on your Instagram presence.

Find more information about this in the Instagram Stories module. - Your Bio - Think of this as your elevator pitch. What does someone needs to know about you? I like o think about this as a 3-part sentence.
We help (insert your target audience) (insert what you do for them) so that they can (insert the benefits they receive as one of your customers).
Then, add your offer right on the end.
Example: We help on-the-go consumers eat healthy meals so they can feel good about what they eat. Get 10% off your first week of meals.
But that sounds pretty cheesy, right? So here's a way we can simplify and make it sound more interesting:

MAKE IT COUNT.
A good bio will attract your people, the right people, almost immediately. A follow won't even be something they think twice about.
A bad bio, on the other hand, can break you. It won't matter how good your work is or how hard you're working or how many hashtags you're using if your bio is bad. It will repel the right people and they'll click away, maybe never to find you again. That is not what you want.
